Assignment: Write a 400 – 600 word article using the quotes and statistics. For individual player stats, click here.

Topic: The JV basketball team won its regular season finale on Thursday, March 13 against Martin Luther King, Jr. High School, 54-46. The team ends the season with a record of 10-2. This is also the fourth straight victory for the team, which featured a lot of depth and talent throughout the season. In the previous season, they finished with a record of 6-6. (This refers to the JV basketball team a few years ago.)

Quote 1) Coach Howard Barbin said, “We had a very successful season, I’m proud of all the guys. There’s always someone that stepped up to the plate and came through. I had a nice, deep team. Every game, I always noticed it was someone different. It wasn’t the same player all the time. I had five or six key different players, including guys on the bench. This team had a lot of flexibility.”

Quote 2) “I’m going to remember the game at Thurgood Marshall, which we won by five points, where that was a do-or-die game this season, where we went out there on their floor and outplayed them in every way,” sophomore Jeremiah Hay said.

Quote 3) “The way Mr. Barbin coaches, we are faster and stronger. We came in as a whole bunch of individual players looking to win some games and we came out as a team with a divisional championship,” Hay said.

Quote 4) Sophomore Perry Fisher said, “I think that the freshman of this year will grow and improve and become much better for next year’s junior varsity.”
