College Office Increases Application Limit
December 20th, 2006
The college office announced on Wednesday, December 13 that this year’s senior class could file a total of eight college applications, one more than the seven application limit in place since 1978. The due date for seniors to submit their choices to the college office was extended to Monday, December 18.
College Advisor Pat Cleary and Assistant Principal Pupil Personnel Services Eleanor Archie made this decision because of a smaller graduating class than in past years and because of “somewhat lower returns for Early Decisions,” according to the Parents’ Association (PA) Web site,
Assistant Principal Technology Edward Wong said that this year there are 701 seniors, compared to “close to 800” last year.
According to Principal Stanley Teitel, he was not involved in making the decision, and was not in the building when it was announced. He had no comment on how the decision was reached.
Most regualar decision applications are due by January 1.
The PA Web site said that this new policy related only to this year and could change in the future, “depending on circumstances.”
